In Too Deep?
Summer means swimming and swimming means the sea, a river, a lake... or ideally, your very own swimming pool! But while swimming pools are bags of fun, they also impose the responsibility for maintenance and safety.

Safety standards, while not uniform across the EU, are being brought in to effect in many countries - particularly with concerns for the safety of children. In France, the "Raffarin Law" (named after the then Prime Minister) was introduced in 2004 (taking full effect 2006). This legislation stipulates that all in-ground swimming pools must have compliant safety in place. This may take the form of security fences with self latching gates, immersion alarms, pool covers or shelters.
It is the responsibility of the property owner to make sure that their swimming pool is legally safe.
